Some years before the declassification programme started, we released a selection of material to Archives New Zealand. You can find these records on Archives NZ’s website.
Check the Archives New Zealand database(external link) for publicly available records.
The first records sent to Archives New Zealand were Special Branch files about the 1951 Waterfront Dispute. These became available to the public on 27 March 2008. Since then, we’ve released records about the Second World War and early Cold War period.
